Dear Members of Union Missionary Baptist Church of Lithonia, Georgia, Inc.,
We trust this message finds you well. Please be advised that the Church Conference initially scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2025, has been postponed until further notice, pending the completion of an independent third-party investigation.
As previously communicated, ongoing concerns and disruptions involving or regarding Rev. Hutchins has arisen, including but not limited to some serious allegations of misconduct. The Board of Directors and Board of Trustees are diligently addressing these matters in accordance with our Christian values and the UMBC Bylaws. An impartial investigator has been retained to conduct a thorough review of the allegations and ensure a fair process.
Efforts have been made by both Boards to resolve these issues amicably through prayer and direct engagement with the Rev. Hutchins. Unfortunately, despite these sincere attempts, no resolution has been reached at this time. Accordingly, legal counsel has been engaged, and appropriate remedies are being pursued through the Court system.
Important Note:
The Deacon’s Ministries, Board of Directors, and Board of Trustees have NOT entered into any contractual agreement with Rev. D. Foy Hutchins. Moreover, there have been no discussions or negotiations regarding such an agreement for several weeks. The announcement made by Rev. Hutchins during the Worship Service on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 10:45 a.m., stating otherwise, was inaccurate and FALSE.
Additionally, the Financial Committee has observed a recent decline in financial contributions (tithes and offerings), which may necessitate adjustments to church operations.
Please be assured that all actions taken are aimed at safeguarding the interests of Union Missionary Baptist Church. We remain dedicated to transparency, fairness, and upholding the integrity of our ministry.
We sincerely appreciate your continued prayers, patience, and support as we proceed with this important process. Updates will be shared with the congregation as more information becomes available.
In His Service,
The Board of Directors and Board of Trustees
Union Missionary Baptist Church
